Kriss Kross – It’s a Shame

You might recognize the sample from EPMD’s 1988 “You Got’s to Chill.” It took it’s main riff from Zapp’s “More Bounce to the Ounce.”

I remember hearing these kids when I was in middle school (7-8th grade), which would have made him in the 5th or 6th grade.

Chilling and very relevant.

MIGHT be one of the best songs ever written. It’s simple. It’s catchy. It still reverberates through collective consciousness. I didn’t even have to tell you who wrote it or recorded it. YOU KNEW.

What you might not have known is that Ryan Adams covered it. And he did it well.

I still like the original versions, sung by the original singer but these…these are different. I like to think of them as “2.0.”
